::this was written about 2 weeks ago…apparently I just never clicked the publish button::
Today I took a big step of faith.
I applied to be a Next Step Intern at Thrive Africa for the summer of 2009.
I’ve been thinking about if for months. Filled out the application one or twice (okay maybe 3 times) and then never sent it in. My reason: I didn’t want to go for something until I was sure it was a God-idea not just a good-idea. Because good-ideas aren’t good unless they are in God’s perfect timing…thus making them a God-idea.
Last night I talked to Katie on the phone. And of course she just had to ask me if I had sent in the application. I swear that girl can read minds or something because I had been stressing out thinking about it all day. She didn’t want to except my reasons (which had to deal with leaving the business for 2 months) and then continued to preach at me strongly encourage me to take this fantastic opportunity in front of me. According to her I shouldn’t be tying myself down when I’m still only 17. “One of us has to be adventurous,” she said. And even though I think that she already has the adventurous part down, she does have a point. Crap. 1 point for Katie.
So today I finally did it. I sat down, finished the application, and faxed it in.
Thank you miss Katie May for pushing me helping me to take that step of faith. But really, thanks friend.
This makes me so happy and sad at the same time! I’m jealous that you get to go back, but so happy for you! Thrive is a special place and God is going to do great things with you this summer!
PS Can you please stuff me in your suitcase?

Blessings as you walk down this road towards missions! If you’re looking for a book to help you learn a little more of what it will be like over there (here
), check out my podcast and/or book. I’m living in Kenya and want to help people bridge that gap from Western culture to Africa.
